Purpose

MISSION:

Parent Network is a non-profit organization that supports the parents of students in the Baltimore area independent school community by providing a broad range of parent education programs that address current parental issues.

Utilizing parent representatives from our member schools, Parent Network offers an information networking system that fosters dialogue among parents, enhances consensus building, and provides programs that strengthen parenting skills.

Through education and communication with parents, Parent Network strives to support the administrators and students at our schools, as well as the general community.

VISION:

The vision of Parent Network is to provide parents of independent school students with leadership, education, resources, and inspiration so that they can help their children become mature, responsible, and productive members of society.

HISTORY:

Parent Network, initially called The Parents' Council of Greater Baltimore, was started in the early 1980's by parent leaders within the independent school community.

These parents identified pressing non-academic issues. As they began to talk, learn and implement new ways to tackle these problems, they formally created a non-profit networking organization that could support the administrators and parents of the schools. In the spring of 2006, the organization updated its image and changed its name to Parent Network to better reflect its mission.
